IT has enabled a default policy in Microsoft Outlook for email archive and applied this policy to all mailboxes in the Firm. This means that, with no action needed on your behalf, emails older than two years will be transferred to the archive mailbox (Online Archive) in your folder list for those that use the local Outlook client. Those that use OWA (Web Mail Interface) this will also apply to the archive mailbox (In-Place archive) in the same way.

Your user experience for searching archived items remain easy to find: from the search box or by navigating to the your Online Archive folder. By default, in the Outlook Client, when you type a term in the Search box, Outlook searches all folders in your mailbox, which would include the Online Archive folder. This applies to those that use the Outlook client. See below for examples of what this will look like:

Graphical user interface, application

Description automatically generated with medium confidence

For those that use OWA (Web Mail Interface, internet browser) the folder you see will be labeled In-Place Archive. See Below:

In OWA to search for archived mail, you will need to click\select the In-Place archive folder in your mailbox to search it.

The functionality remains the same and easy to use for searching for emails.
